‘Memory of a Land’ showcases the concept of time in form of land with traces of changes. These photographs describe the surfaces, clefts, and undulating expanses of an unspecified landscape printed in the Van dyke process. Each print takes hours to develop and undergoes layers of the process - indicating each image is an accumulated compression of time.
The approach towards this project is process-based. Each print is coated, exposed, washed, fixed, and dried. This is incorporated with the formation of the landscape over time. Images show the river bed forest where the river is dried and clefts and traces of the river, dead trees are the only remains. These brown prints narrate the stranded land's memory and the absence of water.
