My ongoing work titled Stillness is a journey. through these images, I explore the complex interconnection of human and nature coexistence. The forest, situated near a beach, protects the land from high tides, but the extreme heat makes survival difficult — some trees are dead, some are surviving, and new plants are growing from the remains of dead trees.
The images are made on a 4x5 camera and printed in a darkroom, slowing down the process of image-making to engage more deeply with the image and space. To evoke nostalgia in the visuality of the landscape, I used wet-plate photography for printing.
